SketchUp – Free 3D CAD Software

SketchUp previously known as ‘Google SketchUp’ is a 3D modeling program for applications such as architectural, interior design, civil and mechanical engineering, film, and video game design.

Trimble Navigation acquired Google SketchUp in April 2012. SketchUp was independent from 2000 to 2006 and then owned by Google from 2006 to 2012.

Trimble now offers SketchUp Make as free 3D software for users and SketchUp Pro for advance work, which is paid software. Students and educators licenses are also offered. SketchUp 14 is now available for download. It is very simple to use, quick modelling (push-pull!) and well-thought UI styles.

Lots of video tutorials, discussion on forum available for the users make it easy to learn the tool. It is widely used tool in Architects community throughout world.
