Siemens PLM Conducts Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on PLM software for University of Mumbai
July 4, 2014: Mumbai, India. – Siemens PLM Software, in association with DesignTech Systems Ltd., organized a special Faculty Development Programme on Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software for thirty three senior professors of mechanical engineering from colleges affiliated to the University of Mumbai. The five-day programme was conducted at Fr. C. Rodrigues Institute of Technology, Mumbai.
The programme was kicked off on May 30, 2014 in the presence of Dr. Naresh Chandra, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, University of Mumbai, Dr. S. K. Ukarande, Dean, Faculty of Technology, University of Mumbai,Fr. S. Almeida, Managing Director, Fr. C. Rodrigues Institute of Technology, Dr. S. M. Khot, Chairman, Board of Studies, Mechanical Engineering, University of Mumbai and Dr. Rollin Fernandes, Principal, Fr. C. Rodrigues Institute of Technology.

The programme included training on Siemens PLM Software’s NX™ software, Teamcenter® portfolio and Tecnomatix® portfolio.

The programme covered training on NX software technology range including NX CAD which is a 3D modelling software used primarily by design engineers to design various mechanical parts, components, systems and products; NX Simulation, that is used for product design analysis and simulation that helps highlight the weak areas in the product design through numerous tests, based on which when the changes are made in the product design, it helps companies make product functionally robust and durable; NX CAM, that communicates between engineers and machines, is a robust and automated programming tool for manufacturing machines.
The training programme also included Siemens PLM Software’s Teamcenter portfolio, the world’s most widely used digital lifecycle management software. Teamcenter acts as the nervous system or the knowledge center of the entire R&D setup and helps companies maintain product design library or history, helps configure ideal workflows in the R&D set-up that effect in setting up optimized processes and workflows that reduce wastage of time, costs, man efforts, materials and machines.
Training on Tecnomatix portfolio, the industry-leading digital manufacturing software was also a part of the training programme. Tecnomatix helps companies create 3D simulations of their manufacturing plant facility and helps them design and set-up optimized workflows in the manufacturing plant including assembly line, robotics, ergonomics that aim at configuring and streamlining highly efficient manufacturing processes.
