The VR Innovation Academy will develop needed capability and capacity in the field of Augmented and Virtual Reality (AVR) solutions to the dynamic Kansai region — the second largest economic region of Japan with a regional GDP of approximately 1 trillion USD, matching nations such as South Korea. As the former capital of Japan, Kyoto maintains a rich cultural history while also serving as the home for rapidly growing industries such as animation, media, healthcare, and more. Additionally, Kyoto is an important education and R&D hub in Japan where local universities have been affiliated with Nobel Prize Laureates several times.
