EON Reality, Regione Emilia-Romagna Open IDC, VR Academy in Bologna, Italy
IRVINE, CA, USA, Nov 27, 2018 – EON Reality Inc., the world leader in Augmented and Virtual Reality based knowledge transfer for industry and education, in partnership with Regione Emilia-Romagna inaugurated EON Reality Italy, EON Reality’s Interactive Digital Center (IDC) and VR Innovation Academy (VRIA) in Italy.
The facility — which will be located at the WorkLife Innovation Hub in Casalecchio di Reno — opening also marks the beginning of Bologna’s AVR ecosystem, as EON Reality Italy will be focused on helping local companies and industries improve their productivity and safety through the use of the AVR Platform while also bringing more AVR education to the area.
By expanding their presence in Europe, EON Reality will also be able to continue their tradition as an AVR leader around the globe with dozens of locations. The new IDC will focus on building and assisting nearby businesses to become more technologically savvy in AVR as well as increasing their efficiency, safety and security.
“The establishment of [EON Reality] in Emilia-Romagna is certainly a source of great satisfaction and pride. We are facing a further step forward in research, towards the application and development of new technologies, but also a new and prestigious confirmation of how attractive our territory is — in particular for Industry 4.0,” said, Stefano Bonaccini, Emila-Romagna President.
“With the inauguration of the Interactive Digital Center, Emilia-Romagna fills a missing piece in the innovation ecosystem: the one linked to the development of virtual reality technologies. As a technology related to the digitization of industry — which will help to ensure that the manufacturing sector of the region has a high level of development focusing on advanced skills and the quality of employment. EON Reality will be a hub for the development of services and expertise in various industrial processes for our manufacturing, where experimentation, research and technological innovation are co-existing,” said, Palma Costi, Regional Councilor for the Productive Activities.
At the VRIA, students will have the opportunity to take an 11-month course load dedicated to building the skills required to develop AVR applications in practical uses — including approximately 7 months spent working on hands-on projects in order to get both real-world experience and some significant pieces in their portfolio.
“We have a great opportunity to improve local knowledge transfer and advance both the educational and industrial uses of Augmented and Virtual Reality here in Emilia-Romagna. The IDC and VRIA will boost not only the region’s current understanding of the AVR Platform, but also the usage and knowledge of it in future generations. It’s truly an exciting time for Italian citizens and visitors alike”, said, Dan Lejerskar, Founder of EON Reality
The first class of VRIA students in Bologna is currently underway, and the next class intake is scheduled for the Fall of 2019. For more information, please continue to check the EON Reality Italy webpage.
