EDEM Announces 2018 Visualization Contest Winners

EDINBURGH, UK, Sep 14, 2018 - EDEM is pleased to present the winners of the 2018 Visualization Contest. The contest promotes simulation expertise and innovation in the field of bulk and granular material simulation in engineering design, industrial R&D and academic research.

All users of EDEM software from industry and academia were invited to enter the contest by submitting their best EDEM simulation videos. Entries showcased a range of applications from agriculture, food processing and construction to planetary and space exploration. Participants took advantage of EDEM’s advanced customization capabilities to simulate complex material behavior such as breakage, flexible fibers, wetting, fluidization and more.

This year’s contest introduced a special category with a guest judge, Professor Jin Ooi, an expert in the field of Discrete Element Modeling (DEM) and a well-known figure in the DEM community. Prof. Ooi chose his favorite video from all the entries received. In addition, 3 winners were selected and 3 honorary mentions awarded among all the submissions.
