AutoForm Presents AutoForm-ProgSim at FABTECH 2017
WILEN B. WOLLERAU, Switzerland, Nov 17, 2017 – AutoForm Engineering GmbH, the leading supplier of software solutions for the sheet metal forming industry, presented its newly developed software AutoForm-ProgSim at FABTECH 2017. Held this year in Chicago from November 6-9, FABTECH is North America’s largest event for metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing. This new software for the simulation of progressive dies was met with great interest by FABTECH 2017 participants working in the field of progressive dies.
Tool geometries defined in Cimatron can be used directly for process simulation with AutoForm-ProgSim
FABTECH, North America’s largest metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing event, attracted over 50,000 attendees and 1,700 exhibiting companies this year. Participants were able to meet with world-class suppliers and be introduced to the latest industry products and developments. AutoForm participated at this important event and presented its latest development achievements. The most attractive among them for designers of progressive dies was AutoForm-ProgSim, software for the simulation of progressive dies tailored for Cimatron users.
The optimization of trim lines significantly reduces lead time and costs (black line represents the reference geometry).
AutoForm-ProgSim simulates the entire progressive die stamping process including drawing, flanging, forming and trimming operations as well as springback evaluation. The efficient simulation is based on incremental simulation technology. Once the tool geometry is defined in Cimatron, it can be easily exported to AutoForm-ProgSim. The user can then simulate the entire stamping process and validate the results. Results such as optimized trim lines and springback can be exported back to Cimatron for tool adaptations. The optimization of trim lines leads to the elimination of laser-trim tryouts later on in the process, which significantly reduces lead time and costs.
Mr. Ralph Picklo, Americas Director of Cimatron Sales, 3D Systems stated: “We are delighted that we had the opportunity to collaborate with AutoForm on this important topic for designers of progressive dies. AutoForm-ProgSim, an ideal software complement for designers of progressive dies, will greatly benefit their daily work process. Tailored data exchange between Cimatron and AutoForm-ProgSim leads to fast and reliable results. We are thrilled that AutoForm-ProgSim together with the Cimatron Die Design solution aroused such great interest at FABTECH 2017.”
Dr. Markus Thomma, Corporate Marketing Director of AutoForm Engineering, added: “This excellent collaboration with 3D Systems enables us to even better meet the needs of progressive die designers. AutoForm-ProgSim allows them to efficiently design, simulate and validate their strip concept. As a result, costly trial and error adjustments can now be reduced to a minimum. Our participation at FABTECH and the fact that AutoForm-ProgSim software was so well received is confirmation that we are on the right path in our efforts to support our customers in achieving outstanding results.”
