  • Easier and flexible purchase options for independent game developers, small and medium businesses

PUNE, Nov 17, 2014 – Reseller and distributor network of Autodesk’s 3D Design software catering to gaming industries have announced attractive schemes for independent game developers at the NASSCOM Game Developer Conference in Pune. Aimed at harnessing the increasing indie game developer community in India, the scheme offers flexible and affordable purchase options for a range of Autodesk software including Autodesk® Maya®, Autodesk® 3ds Max®, and Autodesk® Entertainment Creation Suite software. The NASSCOM Game Developer Conference was organized from Nov 13th to Nov 15that Pune.

The Indian gaming industry is close to USD 890 million and according to a report by NASSCOM-IGDA the casual gaming revenue in India set to quadruple by 2015 to USD 244 million. This sector is poised for remarkable growth in the coming years with the availability of creative talent, huge IT skills base and world-class infrastructure. Within the industry the term ‘Indie’ is commonly used to represent a small team or an individual who independently develops a commercial-quality video game. Since game development is heavily bound by huge capital investments by the game publisher ‘indies’ have challenges in all aspects of game development such as funding, developing, publishing, marketing and selling their games. In addition, it becomes increasingly difficult to have access to expensive state-of-the-art tools for creating game content. In this context flexible purchase options for Autodesk’s industry leading software would provide a much needed boost for this community to flourish in India.

The following software are available on desktop subscription or 1 year term license via Autodesk’s VAD:

  • Autodesk®  Entertainment Creation Suite Unlimited : includes- Autodesk® 3ds Max®, Autodesk® Maya® Autodesk® Softimage, Autodesk®  MotionBuilder®, Autodesk®  Mudbox® @ INR 4290/- per month.
  • Autodesk® Maya® standalone @ INR 3333/- per month
  • Autodesk® 3ds Max®, standalone @ INR 3333/- per month.
  • Autodesk® Smoke® on Mac @ INR 3100/- per month.

In addition to the flexible purchase plan, GDC also saw the launch of the portal www.maxmayaartistsindia.com with the aim to provide a platform to independent game developers, who work on Autodesk software, to showcase their work, network with peers and interact with customers.  With over 100 game development organizations currently in business in India this sector is poised for remarkable growth in the coming years with the availability of creative talent, huge IT skills base and world-class infrastructure.

Commenting on the scheme Mr. Alok Sharma, Head of Media & Entertainment Autodesk India & SAARCsaid, “This specific promotion by our VAD offer independent game developers the access to world class tools to unleash their creativity and grow their businesses in a manner that best fit their current project needs and budget. It’s never been more cost effective for designers and gaming artists to get started with virtually no up-front capital costs, and to quickly ramp up projects using industry-leading Autodesk software.”

Mr. R Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM said, “We are happy about this initiative to boost India’s gaming industry by providing easier access to Autodesk’s world class software for independent game developers. India has abundance of best-in-class gaming talent and such tools will help these game developers create products that can compete in the global marketplace. With access to better infrastructure and ecosystem, Indian game developers will grow at a rapid pace and will make a mark in the global gaming arena.”
