TROY, MI, USA, Jun 5, 2018 – At an event in Times Square on June 1 following WEYV ringing the opening bell on Nasdaq, Altair (Nasdaq:ALTR) and WEYV (an Altair company), announced the following vision for WEYV, a platform for streaming digital music, magazines, podcasts, books and videos and more.

WEYV_03Not only you can listen to music while reading a magazine, but the more you listen to music in WEYV, the more money is donated to charity

“Today, under the guise of ‘free,’ consumers are accessing content in exchange for their personal data. We’ve seen the backlash this increasingly invasive model has caused,” said James R. Scapa, chairman and CEO of Altair. “Altair and WEYV are building a more sustainable model we believe will transform how society exchanges content.”

This model for accessing content is the patented digital content licensing platform on which WEYV is built. Altair also uses a similar model to license enterprise software to corporate customers. It is intended to benefit consumers in the following ways:

  1. Confidence knowing their personal information is not compromised
  2. Compliance with COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act), enabling consumers to control what content is or is not accessible
  3. Ease of access to multiple forms of content via one platform across all devices

“We believe all content has value,” said Stephanie Scapa, CEO of WEYV, an Altair company. “The individuals and groups that create intellectual property – whether it be music, magazines, blogs, apps, podcasts or newspapers – should be fairly compensated.”

WEYV was created with the intention to benefit content creators through:

  1. Fair compensation for their intellectual property based on usage
  2. Exposure to a larger audience

Details surrounding the WEYV vision as well as insight into a few upcoming features in WEYV can be found here in the presentation that was shared with partners at the June 1event.

WEYV is available as an ad-free, subscription-based app that allows users to listen to music, read magazines and (soon) watch visual content. WEYV is available on iOS and Android devices and via a web player for U.S.-based users.

More content will be added to WEYV on a rolling basis. WEYV is available for a 14-day free trial and can be accessed via the App StoreGoogle Play and the WEYV website.
